General Information
Grants are up to $2,000 each and are awarded to a school, department, or groups of teachers/staff presently employed by the Carson City School District.
The purpose of these grants is to give funding for a school, department, or group of teachers/staff to implement an innovative project aligned to specific strategies within Empower Carson City 2027 the district’s strategic plan.
Important Grant Information:
- The Foundation cannot fund projects that require prior approval from Maintenance/Operations, Ed Services or other program leadership unless approval is explicitly stated.
- The Foundation cannot fund large equipment.
- The Foundation cannot fund whole team sports equipment or jerseys. If a student cannot afford the equipment or uniform needed for participation. Please refer them to our student financial aid program: https://ccschoolsfoundation.org/student-financial-aid-grant/
- All funds must be used by the timeline stated in the grant or within 12 months of receiving the award. If this project cannot be completed within 6 months, please reach out to the CCSD Grants Department.
- If a project cannot be completed, funds will revert to the Foundation.
- Awards for school/department/grade level grants will be placed in a Carson City School District account. The CCSD Grants Department will help the awardees with all purchasing and expenditures of these grant funds.
- In cases where food will be purchased, the check for the award will be written to the site activities fund, and the site will maintain oversight of spending.
- Student aid grants are accepted at any time throughout the school year. All other grants should be submitted withing the designated filing periods. Any exceptions to this must be submitted in writing to the Foundation Board, or a presentation to the Board at a monthly meeting.
- The period of time for funding department or school grants for on-going programs or multi-year project will be determined at the time of the award. Thus, the site can plan future budgeting for the program.
- Department/school grants can’t be used for travel (hotel, airfare, food reimbursement, etc..) for students or clubs.
- The Foundation is willing to process contributions from individual, school and community donors for student and CCSD school projects or needs.
- Awardees must share the results of their work via pictures, videos, and/or reports with the Carson City Schools Foundation. Some or all of these items may be used in press releases and uploaded to the Foundation’s website. Here’s an article to help you make a video.
